Rab “Coolhand” McCullough Band, Belfast

Master blues guitarist, who has been one of the central figures of the Belfast blues scene since the mid-sixties. His irresistible combination of Irish and American blues is helping to redefine contemporary blues music


Hollywood Slim & the Fat Cats, Dublin hollywoodslimandthefatcats.com

Drawing mainly from the West Coast blues style, Slim takes his Little Walter-inspired Mississippi saxophone right over to Chicago, then west to California, wailing up an unholy storm along the way. They swing resolutely throughout while their ace guitarist sets pulses racing with fiery T-Bone Walker/B.B. King-inspired licks.

They run the Blues Jam in Mc Kenna’s Bar on the last Thursday of every month. It’s been running now since 2003. There will be a “House Band” to start things off; you never know who is going to be there. It could be you!! Des will be your host and MC.

They play a crossover of country rock and blues and have played in lots of Irish pub venues in London including a support slot for Alabama 3 and Eric Bell.

No festival can be complete without the support from the publican’s venues in town who are the partners in bringing this festival together. Access to any of these venues is free of charge and performance times may vary from venue to venue. Nearly 40 gigs will be played at these venues by the time we head to work on Monday 8th
